Walk-In Medical Clinic - FAQ

Our doctors are available for any condition for which you would normally visit your family doctor or other Walk-In clinic.

Q

What kind of doctor works in the Walk-In Clinic?

A

Family Doctors or General Practitioners generally staff Walk-In Clinics. They are licensed Medical Doctors who have a four year University degree from a certified Faculty of Medicine. This is followed by minimum of two years of residency training.

Q

What if I already have a Family Doctor?

A

You can still register with the Walk-In Clinic if you cannot get an appointment with your own Family Doctor or if he/she is closed. You do not need permission from your Family Doctor to register. The visit remains completely confidential unless you wish to inform your Family Doctor that you were seen at the Walk-In Clinic.

Q

What do I need to register?

A

If you are a resident of Ontario then all you need is a valid Health Card. Most services provided by the Walk-In clinic would thus be fully covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Q

How is the Walk-In Clinic different form a Family Doctor’s office?

A

The main difference between the Walk-In Clinic and your Family Doctor’s office is that you cannot book appointments at the Walk-In Clinic. Nobody is turned away but you will be seen on a first come, first served basis although emergency cases may be seen with priority.
